DUNLOP GIVE AMATEUR BIKERS THE CHANCE TO COMPETE IN MOTO1
11 June 2005 - Dunlop

Dunlop Tyres are pleased to announce their sponsorship of one of the bike world''s most visually exciting and challenging events; Moto1.

The Dunlop Moto1 event is due to take place at Mallory Park in October. Top riders from the British Superbike Championship such as Michael Laverty and Karl Harris, Supermoto winners such as Leighton Haigh and World Enduro Championship riders such as Wayne Braybrook go head to head through a series of challenges.

The unique event sees 24 of the UK''s top motorcyclists come together to compete in four different events; Enduro, Trials, Motocross and Circuit Racing, to find out which rider is good enough to take the Moto1 plate.

As the new sponsors Dunlop are offering up to three Moto1 places to the finalists of their Ultimate Biker contest. Dunlop will select 24 amateur riders from across the UK to battle it out in four disciplines with three finalists heading to Moto1.

The Dunlop Rider with most points at the end of the second day wins the Ultimate Biker accolade and will share the podium, media attention and glory with the professionals.

Dunlop''s Brand Manager, Geraldine McGovern said: ''Dunlop have a long history in the field of motorsport and we are delighted to be the sponsors of Moto1.

Over the past year we have also announced title sponsorship of the Dunlop British Touring Car Championship, launched Ultimate Biker and the second Dunlop Race Academy. The reveal of Dunlop''s online portal www.driversknow.co.uk has also been a great success. More people compete on Dunlop rubber ever week than any other tyre brand and Dunlop now sits at the heart of British Motorsport!''
