ELIAS GIVEN THE GREEN LIGHT FOR CATALUNYA
10 June 2005 - DORNA COMMUNICATIONS
Toni Elias has been given the go ahead by his doctor to race in this weekend’s Gran Premi Gauloises de Catalunya
The Spaniard crashed during a testing session at Le Mans and had to sit out the Mugello event, having sustained wrist and ankle fractures. Dr Xavier Mir, from the Dexeus Clinic in Barcelona, gave an encouraging update about the rider’s injuries. “The fracture of the radius is consolidating pretty quickly, but it will take more time for the scaphoid,” said Mir. “His ankle fracture is also recovering well and he will need two more weeks to be almost fully fit, as the scaphoid injury still needs four weeks.” Elias was in buoyant mood, feeling ready to get back on the saddle. “I’ve been looking forward to this Grand Prix for a while. Racing at home is always special and as I feel much better, I want to give it a shot. I’ve been working a lot and I’m very motivated.” “I don’t want to trick anyone; I’ve already said that I will not race if I don’t feel fit enough. I want to try and see – I’m really eager. It’s not about getting a result. Everybody told me not to rush it, but I’ve been giving my best work during the past few days, and if I had only one chance out of a thousand to race, I would take it.”
