ANSTEY WINS TT SUPERSTOCK THRILLER
10 June 2005 - Suzuki Racing

New Zealand rider Bruce Anstey continued his fine run of form by lifting the Scottish Life International TT Superstock win on the Isle of Man after team-mate Adrian Archibald ran out of fuel at the Bungalow on the final lap while leading by 20 seconds

It was a bitter twist of fate, as the TAS Suzuki mounted duo were in a different class from the opening lap and an almost certain ''one-two'' was on the cards for Suzuki and the new GSX-R1000K5 machines.

In the Supersport Junior TT ''A'' race, run in glorious weather conditions, both TAS Suzuki riders circulated well within the top ten on the opening laps but neither could make in-roads on the podium positions. Anstey finished in fourth only two seconds down on third-placed rider John McGuinness. Archibald eventually finished in eighth place, which adds another silver replica to his ever-growing tally.

Bruce Anstey:

''In the Superstock race I couldn''t believe how quickly that Adrian caught me - he had me beaten! He was riding really well and I thought I''d follow him home for a TAS Suzuki ''one-two'' then he took a wide line at the Bungalow on the last lap and that was that. I''m pleased to win for Suzuki and all our sponsors, but I was a little disappointed with the Supersport race. The team have a few changes to make for the Supersport ''B'' race on Wednesday, so hopefully we can be more competitive and I can get on it in the opening laps.''

Adrian Archibald:

''I spoke to Philip Neill just before the Superstock race and he asked me if I wanted him to ride the bike for the first nine miles to Glen Helen, after my slow start in Sunday''s TT Superbike event! I put my head down today from the flag and just enjoyed the race and the gap grew and grew. It was in the bag but mistakes can happen and Hector feels bad enough - but that''s racing. The GSX-R1000 was superb and perfect to ride so I am disappointed, but hopefully we can make amends later in the week.''

Philip Neill - Team Manager:

''It was nearly a dream result for us in the Superstock race. But more importantly, to take the win for Suzuki on the all-new GSX-R1000 K5 is very important. It''s the bike the enthusiasts can buy in the shop so Suzuki has produced another top quality machine.

''I am pleased for Bruce; that''s nine TT wins for TAS as a team in four years. I''m disappointed for Adrian but the fuel stop is always calculated in a professional way. It''s hard to legislate for the blistering laps he was doing and the second lap of 126.641 mph was phenomenal. Our positive days at the TT heavily out-weigh the negative one''s and I''m sure Adrian will have something to smile about before the end of the week.''

Scottish Life International TT Superstock Results: 1 Bruce Anstey (TAS Suzuki) 54:39.74, 2 Ian Lougher (Honda) 55:15.73, 3 Ryan Farquhar (Kawasaki) 55:16.82.
Supersport Junior TT ''A'' Results: 1 Ian Lougher (Honda) 1:14:52.84, 2 John McGuinness (Yamaha) 1:15:15.46, 3 Jason Griffiths (Yamaha) 1:15:50.07, 4 Bruce Anstey (TAS Suzuki) 1:15:56.10. 8 Adrian Archibald (TAS Suzuki) 1:17:00.04.
