GIRL BIKERS GATHER TO CELEBRATE BENNETTS BSB LADIES DAY

Bennetts BSB Ladies Day, which took place yesterday, Sunday 5 June 2005, at Croft in North Yorkshire, saw female riders from across the country getting together to show their support for Bennetts’ brand new ‘Go For it Girls!’ campaign.

Fronted and supported by British Eurosport’s World Superbikes presenter and BBC Radio 1 DJ, Mary Anne Hobbs, Ladies Day was launched by Bennetts to herald the start of an ongoing campaign to encourage more women to turn to two wheels.

The day, which was supported by Hein Gericke, the UK’s leading retailer of motorcycling clothing and accessories, offered a range of activities and services dedicated to women bikers.

Four fashion shows saw biker babes modelling the newest range of girls gear with each show being hosted by BBC Radio 1 DJ Mary Anne Hobbs. Free prize draw competitions also ran throughout the day and every woman who visited the Bennetts stand, was entered into the draw to be in with a chance of winning tickets to the final of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch plus some of the newest Hein Gericke kit.

Dedicated information services from the Bennetts and Hein Gericke teams ensured that women had all their biking questions covered.

Also backing Ladies Day and the Go For It Girls! campaign was ex-Gladiator Janie Omorogbe. Janie’s passion for two wheels shone as she showed her support.

Janie said: “Ladies Day has been a great way of getting the ‘Go For It Girls!’ campaign up and running. Women have been able to talk about the things that really matter to them as female riders. The day was a unique but hands on way of bringing motorcycling closer to girls”.

Also talking about the success of Ladies Day, Mary Anne Hobbs said: “I''ve had a fantastic day. It’s been great to see so many girls really into their bikes getting on board with everything that Ladies Day and the whole ‘Go For It Girls!’ campaign is aiming to achieve. I really hope events like this will give girls who are just putting a toe in the water the spark of inspiration and the confidence they need to get on a bike and never look back!''
