NEWCASTLE have signed former Berwick skipper David Meldrum as a temporary replacement for Kevin Little, who is suffering from a shoulder injury.

Meldrum was dropped by the Bandits earlier this season and will face his former club during his spell with the Diamonds. Newcastle promoter George English said: ''We hope David can cover Kevin’s absence well, and know he has a fair bit of experience to fall back on around Brough Park.''

DENMARK manager Jacob Olsen has named a strong team for next Monday''s Test Match against Team Great Britain at Wolverhampton. Olsen''s team includes four Grand Prix stars led by World Champion Nicki Pedersen, plus three other riders with international experience. Scott Nicholls heads the Team GB line-up as boss Neil Middleditch looks to finalise his plans for the World Cup at Eastbourne and Poole in August. TEAM GB (riding order to be confirmed): Scott Nicholls, Mark Loram, Lee Richardson, David Norris, David Howe, Stuart Robson, Chris Neath.
DENMARK: Hans Andersen, Jesper B Jensen, Bjarne Pedersen, Kenneth Bjerre, Nicki Pedersen, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Charlie Gjedde.
