BENNETTS SEND OFF NICK SANDERS ON RECORD BREAKING JOURNEY
26 May 2005 - Bennetts

Bennetts, the UK’s number one for motorcycle insurance, is backing motorcycle adventurer Nick Sanders to set a new world record for the fastest two-wheeled circumnavigation of the globe after sending him off in style from the BMF Bike show on Sunday (22nd May 2005).

Nick Sanders is attempting to shave more than a day off the current record and blaze a trail around the world in less than 20 days to claim back the title he first captured in 1997, when he rode the 20,000 mile journey in a record 31 days.

To achieve his latest target, Nick will have to average more than 1,000 miles a day and ride an average of 16 hours a day on his unmodified 2005 Yamaha R1, carrying only the essential equipment. Nick will not be using any GPS Satellite Navigation, he will not be carrying food or first aid and he won’t even have the luxury of a change of clothes. There’s also no support team to rely on, making this record attempt truly unique.

Bennetts has been behind Nick’s latest record attempt since day one, providing vital support to get Nick to the start line at the BMF Bike Show at Peterborough. The Bennetts Babes were also on hand at the start line to wish Nick ‘Bon Voyage’ on his epic journey.

Bennetts, Managing Director, Matthew Gledhill, said: “We all wish Nick the very best of luck for his journey and we’re looking forward to welcoming him back safely as a record breaker.”

Speaking on the start line, Nick Sanders, added: “Bennetts’ sponsorship has been invaluable in getting me to this stage and hopefully we’ll be back celebrating a new record in just 19 days, 8 hours and 25 minutes or less.”
