SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES
20 May 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association
BRITISH youngsters Edward Kennett and Simon Stead will get a taste of the big-time... by taking their place as reserves at the FIM British Grand Prix next month.
Both riders have been nominated by British boss Neil Middleditch to enjoy the magic of the Millennium Stadium on Saturday, June 11. Middleditch said: ''It can only be a good experience to be there on the night, rubbing shoulders with the world''s best.” STOKE chief Dave Tattum has jumped to the defence of Peter Carr with speculation over his future with the Potters. Tattum said: “Peter comes across as being disinterested at times, but that is just his way and I feel certain the lad will come good. ''I hope the fans get behind him and the rest of the team after a tough start with injuries to key riders.” (FIXTURES) FRIDAY MAY 20: ELITE LEAGUE KNOCKOUT CUP: Coventry v Swindon 8pm PREMIER LEAGUE: Edinburgh v King’s Lynn 7.30 PREMIER TROPHY: Somerset v Newport 7.30 CONFERENCE LEAGUE: Weymouth v Scunthorpe 7.30 SATURDAY MAY 21: ELITE LEAGUE KNOCKOUT CUP: Eastbourne v Peterborough 7.30 PREMIER LEAGUE: Berwick v King’s Lynn 7pm, Workington v Hull 7pm PREMIER TROPHY: Stoke v Edinburgh 7.30 BRITISH OPEN SIDECAR CHAMPIONSHIPS: King’s Lynn 7.30 SUNDAY MAY 22: WORLD UNDER-21 QUALIFYING ROUND: Belle Vue 3pm PREMIER LEAGUE: Glasgow v Berwick 6pm, Newcastle v Exeter 5.30, Newport v Edinburgh 2.30 CONFERENCE LEAGUE: Newport v Armadale (follows PL meeting), Sittingbourne v Weymouth 1pm CONFERENCE TROPHY: Mildenhall v Wimbledon 5pm CONFERENCE CHALLENGE: Scunthorpe v Halifax Select 3pm
