THE 2005 MOTOGIRO IS READY TO GO & TICKETS ARE SOLD OUT
22 May 2005 - Ducati

FROM MAY 24 - 28, THE MOTOGIRO D’ ITALIA WILL CROSS ROMAGNA, MARCHE, UMBRIA AND TOSCANA

This year the historic revival of Italy’s oldest timed motorcycle road race returns to the roads of tradition. The Motogiro will depart on Tuesday, May 24th, from the town of Cattolica along Italy’s Adriatic coast and will cover 1200 kilometres of central Italy, winding through beautiful countryside and on roads that overlook both sea and mountains.

The more than 400 participants coming from across the globe are ready to compete in this classic competition. The Motogiro began in 1914, was suspended in 1957, and reborn as a vintage motorcycle race in 2001. Since then, the Motogiro has again become an international two-wheeled legend, an essential motorcycling event.

The 2005 Motogiro will take place over 5 days and will pass through many of the cities that were famous for the Motogiro in the 1950s such as Cattolica, Rimini, Magione, Perugia, Assisi, Spello, Terni, Todi, Acqualagna, Fano, Pesaro and finally, Gradara, where the ride will come to an end with an award ceremony and final gala dinner on Saturday, May 28th.

Once again, Ducati is the main sponsor of the event. Along with historic motorcycles from the Borgo Panigale factory, other legendary Italian brands will also participate in the event, such as MV Agusta, Morini, Moto Guzzi, Benelli, Bianchi, Gilera and Motobi.
