ALBERT CABESTANY VERY CLOSE TO ANOTHER VICTORY
17 May 2005 - Sherco
Albert Cabestany missed his chance for a second victory in the Championship of Spain by a very small margin.
After lap one Cabestany was leading the classification by one point in spite of committing an error in the indoor type section which gave him an unnecessary five. The final blow fell in section one of the second lap, the very slippery conditions which were caused by the intense rain caused the Sherco rider to commit a second fiasco. These two errors no doubt gave the victory to Adam Raga since only three points separated the two riders at the end of the day. After this third event Albert is in second place in the provisional classification for the Championship of Spain. Albert Cabestany: ''I feel really bad about this result because two avoidable errors caused me to loose the victory to Raga. In the first lap I failed in the indoor section but still managed to finish the first lap in front of Raga. In the first section of the second lap I fell after a leap, the land yielded underneath me because of the very wet conditions caused by the heavy rains giving me another five which turned out to be my undoing. The terrain today was very complicated because of the slippery clay, it turned out to be a very costly training day however it should help prepare me for the next World Round in Japan''.
