MLADIN HEADS SUZUKI GSX-R1000 1-2-3

Reigning AMA Superbike Champion Mat Mladin headed a Suzuki GSX-R1000 one-two-three at today''s second AMA Superbike double-header at Sonoma in California as 12 of the top 20 finishers were mounted on the new 2005 K5-model Suzukis.

Five-time champion Mladin commanded the race from the start, winning by a massive 13 seconds from Yoshimura Suzuki team mate Aaron Yates with team newcomer Ben Spies third just 0.4 seconds down on Yates.

Mladin also set the fastest lap of the race, a 1:36.394, on the second lap.

Said Mladin: ''It was a good day - a good weekend for us - and we just look forward to next week.''

Mladin increased his points lead to 16 points over Spies after eight of 18 rounds. Yates is third with 207.
