PARRYS International Wolves recorded their fifth straight win to maintain the pressure on Poole at the top of the Elite League table.
Injury-hit Eastbourne struggled to cope with Wolves'' all-round strength, the visitors supplying just four heat winners all evening as the home side ran out 54-42 victors. Three of those came from in-form David Norris, who lowered the Monmore Green track record to 55.87 in Heat 1, but support for the Eagles No.1 was limited with Nicki Pedersen falling in Heat 6 as he tried to pass Mikael Max. There was controversy in Heat 9 when the Eagles riders had to switch positions on the line to enable Norris to get a double-points win. Pedersen appeared to mistime his easing up until it was too late, but the referee awared Norris the win for an Eastbourne 8-1. But that was as good as it got for the visitors with Wolves extending their lead by seven points in the next three races, and Max finishing off in fine form by beating Norris and Pedersen in both Heats 13 and 15. Adam Skornicki enjoyed his best night of the season for Wolves with a fine 14-point haul which also included a couple of trademark ''doughnuts,'' and Chris Neath contributed a vital paid win in Heat 12 when Eastbourne''s Adam Shields was going for double points. WOLVERHAMPTON 54: Mikael Max 13+1, Adam Skornicki 13+1, David Howe 11+1, Sam Ermolenko 7+1, Fredrik Lindgren 6, Chris Neath 4+2, rider replacement for Daniel Nermark. EASTBOURNE 42: David Norris 16+2, Nicki Pedersen 11+1, Adam Shields 9+1, Edward Kennett 3, Davey Watt 2, Andrew Moore 1, rider replacement for Jonas Kylmakorpi.
