SHERCO CONTINUES TO MAKE HISTORY IN THE SCOTTISH
10 May 2005 - Sherco

Sherco has achieved its third consecutive victory in the legendary Scottish Six Day Trial (SSDT), this year at the hands of the Brit Sam Connor, who joins the ranks of Graham Jarvis and Joan Pons, also winners of this prestigious and difficult test of man and machine.

All three riders have ridden Sherco motorcycles to victory. Since the birth of the brand in 1999 a Sherco motorcycle has been ridden to victory in four of the seven years, 1999, 2003, 2004 and now in 2005.

The 2005 edition of the SSDT will go down in history as one of the hardest fought in recent years with practically a different leader each day. Graham Jarvis (who eventually finished in sixth place) started well and was the leader after the second day and had hopes of a repeat victory, however a difficult third day relegated him to a lower position. Sam Connor was riding very well and each day improved his position in the classification taking the lead on Friday, a position he did not abandon although he was pressed very hard by Ben Hemmingway, Sam was able to hold him off and secured the victory by one point. The third blue rider, Joan Pons the winner of the 2003 SSDT, was riding well on the new Sherco 3.2 4T and among the leaders until an electrical problem which was impossible to fix in the time allocated in the paddock caused him to have to abandon on the fourth day of the race.

With three consecutive victories in the hands of three different riders, Sherco has been confirmed as the dominating motorcycle in this type of event. The factory support, team management and the reliability of the Sherco motorcycle has shown again that Sherco is the weapon of choice in this type of long distance event where the climate and conditions can prove to be extremely severe.

Sam Connor:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
''Obviously I am very pleased by the result. The Scottish is always hard, but the edition this year was extremely difficult as shown by the results, with a change of leadership nearly every day. I have ridden this event for several times and it is very satisfying to have actually achieved the victory. I am also very happy with my Sherco 2.9 motorcycle which I only received one week ago and had very little time to prepare it for the event, however I did not need to worry as the bike and the team worked to perfection.''

Joan Pons :
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
''When I left the paddock this morning I was directed to the first section which was some 50 Km away, the motorcycle began to fail. I immediately determined that it was an electrical problem which was probably aggravated by the rain. Before attempting to ride the motorcycle 180 Km in the rain I decided to return to the paddock to try and make the repair. We tried to locate and make the repair in the allocated time but time ran out before the bike was ready to go so we had to abandon. I MYSELF am very sad by this ending but satisfied with the performance of the motorcycle since I have been able to verify that its behavior in the sections is excellent. Already I desire to return next year to get a good result!''
