BMW K1200 S TRACK SUCCESS
The day attracted riders with high performance superbikes, as well as tourers and everyone that attended was impressed with the handling, power, performance and comfort of BMW Motorrad’s new superbike. Yamaha FJR1300 rider Jon Spencer said: “Got to say that you have a winner here! It handles like nothing I’ve ever ridden before. It is very forgiving, comfortable and goes around corners brilliantly.” Kawasaki ZZR1200 rider Mike Perring said: “The K1200 S has excellent handling and brakes, and is really comfortable.” Honda CBR900RR rider, Chris Rees-Veal: “I was very impressed. The K1200 S is comfortable and I had no major loss of handling (if any) which meant that it is more than comparable with my current bike.” Suzuki GSXR750 rider, Therese Chatfield said: “It’s awesome! It is much more suitable for me than my own bike.” BMW R1100 S rider, Chris Cook said: “The K1200 S is utterly awesome, comfortable and like a luxury race bike! Rockingham showed how easy handling the K1200 is. It is very light on the move.” Honda CBR600 rider, Julian Brailsford said: “The K1200 S is impressive. Quick acceleration, awesome brakes and it handles better than I expected. It is confidence inspiring.” Yamaha R1 rider, Fiona Iris commented: “It has better riding position than my bike and is smoother, has a more comfortable seat and smoother power delivery.” Riders who missed out on the BMW K1200 S experience at the BMW Performance Centre at Rockingham can take part on a World of BMW Track Day on either 20 July or 5 September. Run by the California Superbike School, World of BMW Track Days give riders the opportunity to ride their own bike around Rockingham circuit. Participants will be divided into groups (based on skill level) and will ride in six to seven, 20-minute sessions on the national circuit. The day will start with a safety briefing by a qualified instructor and a team of instructors will be available to answer any questions during the day. BMW Motorrad UK will also have its promotional fleet on hand so that participants can test ride the K1200 S, R1200 GS, R1200 ST and other models from the range on the road.
