DATATOOL PLUG-IN SECURITY UP-GRADE FOR HONDA
04 May 2005 - Datatool (UK) Ltd
Based on their market leading System 21 alarm upgrade, Datatool have developed a ‘plug-in’ alarm that will enable many Honda owners to upgrade their OE security immobiliser on their machines to Thatcham Category 1.
Apart from the additional security features, including a 117db siren which is triggered if the vehicle is moved, the seat is removed or the wiring is cut, most insurers also offer discounted premiums for such highly rated hardware. The System 21 (so-called because it upgrades the immobiliser from Category 2 to Category 1) is specifically designed to ‘plug in’ to the existing wiring loom on the following models from Honda; CB900 Hornet, CBR600 RR, CBR900RR Fireblade (2002/3), CBR1000RR Fireblade. A key benefit of ‘plug-in’ systems is that they require much less work to fit than universal systems, thus reducing labour (and associated costs) and also reducing the risk of a fitting error. The System 21 incorporates a number of innovative features and benefits for the end user well above the normal functions of a standard after-market alarm system. Datatool have incorporated several intelligent features into this security device’s electronic ‘brain’, such as an “intelligent” sleep mode for a motorcycle that monitors battery condition and reacts accordingly, protecting the battery from excessive current drain. This is complimented by a PIN over-ride, which allows the owner to program in their own (easy to remember) PIN number to over-ride the system in the event of battery failure/key fob loss. There is even the possibility to customise the System 21 by choosing from 8 different siren tones. The Datatool System 21 is supplied with two waterproof and shockproof remote control key fobs and has a suggested selling price of £169.99- (inc. vat) plus fitting. The price includes a 3-year warranty!
