TWO UP FOR LESS THAN ONE [GRAND]
03 May 2005 - Peugeot
Peugeot have introduced a two-seater version of their budget Ludix scooter in direct response to demand from UK customers.
Following its launch in 2004, the Ludix range redefined modern scooters, by going back to the essence of twist and go transport. The result was a simple, compact and light scooter, with a starting price of just £799 and the reassurance of Peugeot’s lion badge and 100 years of manufacturing expertise behind it. With roads becoming increasingly congested and public transport’s reputation for unreliability and/or over-crowding, increasing numbers of people are seeking a simple alternative, which the Ludix fulfilled. By the end of last year the French Company had achieved a 3% increase in market share across Europe, while in the UK the Ludix has risen to number 4 in the latest sales statistics for 50cc scooters, overtaking established Japanese brands like Yamaha. The new Peugeot One DS is simplicity itself. Weighing in at just 66KG, it is 1/3rd lighter than most modern scooters, which means that, combined with its modern Euro 2 rated automatic engine, it is extremely swift off the mark. It is equipped with a traditional kick start, which has two key benefits; it saves weight compared to electric starter motors and the bigger batteries required to power them and owners have no flat battery worries – just apply your foot and go! The Ludix is proving particularly popular in the caravan and motor home market, as its lightweight makes it easy to load and unload. It is also ideal for those who need to manoeuvre their scooter into tight spaces (e.g. crowded parking bays, side passages and front garden) to park it. Priced at just £899- on the road, the Ludix One DS offers affordable transport for two for less than the price of a decent quality Tandem (Dawes Double Edge tandem = £1,049). Like all Peugeot scooters, it benefits from a 2-year warranty.
