DEMAND SPURS EARLY RELEASE OF 2006 TRIUMPH TIGER
28 April 2005 - Triumph Motorcycles Ltd

Due to higher than expected demand for the 2005-spec Tiger, the model is virtually sold out globally. Therefore, Triumph Motorcycles today announced that to meet demand it is to release the updated 2006 model early.

The 2006 model boasts a new cylinder head and crankcases, with revised
water hose routing and wiring for a visually tidier engine. The
previous Tiger engine derived from the fully faired Daytona displayed a
lot of pipe work and plumbing; now most are tucked neatly away at the
back of the engine.  The motor’s also been fitted with a slicker
shifting gearbox and a backlash eliminator gear that greatly reduces
noise and vibration.

“These changes to the Tiger engine were a natural consequence of the
development of the new engine for the recently launched Sprint ST and
Speed Triple,” said Ross Clifford, Product Manager for Triumph
Motorcycles. “They add another level of refinement to the Tiger – both
visually and physically - and, together with the Tiger’s already
acclaimed engine performance and nimble chassis platform, make for a
stylish, all-round motorcycle.”

Styled like a rugged enduro machine, the Tiger is a truly versatile
road bike and is equally adept at touring, commuting – where the tall
riding position is an advantage – or simply blasting around for fun.

The throaty-sounding, fuel-injected, 3-cylinder engine delivers plenty
of usable power, with masses of torque providing instant drive in
almost any situation.

The chassis gives a composed yet compliant ride, with geometry set for
agile handling and long-travel suspension to soak up any back road
bumps. An effective snub nose fairing and handguards protect the rider
from the elements, while dual disc front brakes provide effective
stopping power.

For added practicality the Tiger also comes with factory-fit
accessories – panniers, heated grips and a centre stand – all within
the OTR price of £6,999. A full range of Triumph accessories, together
with an extensive choice of male and female riding wear and casual
clothing, completes the package available.

The 2006 Tiger is available in two new colours – vibrant Caspian Blue
and subtle Jet Black – plus the existing, ever-popular Aluminium Silver
and will be available from UK Triumph dealerships in early May.

The rest of Triumph’s 2006 line-up will be unveiled at the Paris Show
in September 2005.

Changes for 2006:

·     New cylinder head and crankcases with revised cooling hose
routing for a visually tidier engine
·     Backlash eliminator gear for reduced noise and vibration ·     Revised gearchange internals ·     New Caspian Blue and Jet Black colour options
