RACK UP THE MILES ON BMW WITH VENTURA
26 April 2005 - Motohaus Powersports

Ventura’s unique soft luggage rack system has been consistently popular with BMW riders over many years (BMW''s were in the top 3 selling kits in 2004) and the New Zealand manufacturer has brought its range right up to date with systems for the BMW K1200-S & RS models.

Ventura is favoured alternative to traditional hard luggage systems for many owners of sports tourer motorcycles, as it is significantly lighter than hard luggage and can be made far less conspicuous when not in use. Riders also recognise that Ventura is far more stable than traditional soft luggage, and the aerodynamic bike pack is mounted on a rigid frame.

The system is modular & based around L-brackets, which are tailor-made for each model, so that they can be fitted with the minimum fuss. On the K1200-S the L-brackets are bolted to existing mounting points beneath the pillion seat and above the rear mudguard, leaving the original grab handles in place. The brackets for the RS, meanwhile, have been designed so that the BMW pannier system can still be used, giving the owner massive carrying capacity. The Pack Rack slots into the L-brackets and then a choice of Ventura Packs can be dropped onto the rack and clipped into place. Thus the system is completely stable, even at speed.

Just as importantly, when not in use, the Pack Rack can be removed, leaving only the L-brackets exposed. Alternatively, the Pack rack can be replaced with discreet Grab Handle or Sport Rack.

The Ventura fitting kit for the BMW K1200-S or RS sells for £79.99 inc. VAT. Add £41.99 for a Pack Rack, £36.99 for a Sport Rack and £19.99 for the Grab Handle.

The full system pictured features L-brackets, Pack-Rack and 45-litre capacity Spada Pack, giving a total cost of £216.97. Also attached is an image of the Sport Rack - add £36.99.
