ALBERT CABESTANY, ONE POINT AWAY FROM VICTORY
25 April 2005 - Sherco

Loris Gubian maintains the overall leader in the 125 Youth Championship

Everything looked like this was going to be Albert''s first outdoor victory for him and the Sherco Team; however it was not to be so. An unexpected failure in the very last section of the trial (an indoor type section) gave the victory to Raga, by a single point. No doubt the pressure of competing and the chance of a win in his home town of Tarragona were too much for Albert who had dominated the trial up to the final section. The sections were set alone the seawall near the city and the very dry adhesive surface was to Albert''s liking as he had the lowest score for the first loop and appeared to be heading for the victory with a four point advantage going into the last section. Albert had received a five for touching an arrow in an earlier section otherwise the failure in the last section would not have cost him the win. This will without a doubt motive the rider of the blue machine to work even harder at the next trial knowing that he is learning to compete very well on the new Sherco.

In the 125 Youth Category, Loris Gubian was not able to repeat his victory from the previous week in Portugal; however he is tied for the lead with Daniel Oliveras in the provisional classification. Loris was second in Tarragona followed by fellow Sherco rider Lee Sampson.

Albert Cabestany: ''The complete race was transformed into a single section, a section where I committed a serious error, undoubtedly the fruit of nerves because I rode it with no problem on the first lap. It began to rain and I was afraid that the bike would slip so I did not give it enough gas and I failed. I am very disappointed for the rest of the team because the bike worked perfect and the support was outstanding. I am putting on a positive face because I know that the victories will come and we have moved from third place into second place in the standings.''
