BRITISH SUPERBIKES - ROUND 2 - THRUXTON CIRCUIT
11 April 2005 - Dean Ellison
27-year-old Jentin Yamaha British Superbike rider Dean Ellison had a difficult weekend at the second round of the Bennetts British Superbike series at Thruxton Race Circuit.
Ellison originally from Kendal, now living in Leicester, was hoping to improve from the results he suffered at Brands Hatch a couple of weeks ago but the team are still struggling to make the new bike work. Finishing 21st and 23rd in the two fierce races Ellison was extremely disappointed with the weekends results but is remaining positive as they head to the next race at Mallory Park. The team made various adjustments to the bike over the weekend but they were unable to gain the extra power that they were looking for. Speaking with Ellison he said ''It''s been another really tough weekend and we were hoping to make lots of progress. I have such a good package, Mike Parry has done a superb job with the engine, Harris have made some amazing chassis components and Dunlop are supplying me with the best tyres and for some unknown reason I can''t match the lap times I achieved two years ago. We had a couple of issues with the bike which has left us with terrible instability under hard acceleration, with all the changes we have made to the chassis and suspension I think we are only masking a much bigger problem.'' The team is great and they are working exceedingly hard for me so that we can move to the next step. We have already made a plan for our BSB test at Oulton Park on Friday 15th April, we have new components to test and with the Harris support team we will find the problem. Ellison''s next race is Mallory Park on the 24th April, a local track for the Leicester based rider.
