TOP TEN FINISHES FOR TOM AND OLLIE AT THRUXTON
11 April 2005 - Wayside Racing

Wiltshire brothers Tommy and Ollie Bridewell came away from Thruxton well pleased with their respective performances after a pair of mature rides in round two of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at the weekend.

From Etchilhampton near Devizes, the teenagers were both placed in the top ten of both the Metzeler Racetec National Superstock Championship and the Virgin Mobile Cup as yet another bumper crowd flooded through the gates to watch Britain’s most popular motorsport series.

Sixteen year old Tommy was aiming for a top seven finish on his Wayside Racing Yamaha R6 in the televised Virgin Mobile Cup and after a solid performance in qualifying; he steadily climbed the leaderboard throughout the twelve lap race to end up in ninth place at the chequered flag.

“It was important for me to score points and although not as many as I’d have wished for, I’m happy enough with a top ten result. The weather conditions during the weekend were very difficult and now that I know I can run with the leading riders, I’m really looking forward to the next round at Mallory” said Tommy.

Meanwhile, elder brother Ollie was hoping to improve on his tenth place finish at Brands Hatch in the Metzeler Racetec British Superstock Championship and the nineteen year old duly obliged by claiming ninth after a race long battle around the fast and bumpy Hampshire circuit:

“I really wanted to be three places higher but I think a ninth place is OK under the circumstances. I got tangled up with some riders on the opening laps and I lost the tow from the leaders and ended up in thirteenth at one point. I had to battle my way through and in doing so, it cost me time but a pair of top ten finishes is good enough at this stage although I’m hoping to improve on that at Mallory” said the Vivaldi Racing Team rider.

As a result, Tommy lies in twelfth place in the Virgin Mobile Cup standings with Ollie eighth in the Metzeler Racetec National Superstock Championship going into Mallory Park over the weekend of April 22nd to 24th
