SUZUKI LAUNCHES NEW SERIES AT WORLD SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP
11 April 2005 - Suzuki GB PLC

Suzuki is to run a brand new one-make race series for GSX-R750s at World Superbike events this year.

The Suzuki GSX-R European Cup moves onto the World Stage for the first of five rounds at the Valencia WSB event in Spain on April 24th, followed by further races in Great Britain, Italy, Germany and France.

The World Superbike Championship-leading Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra team will host the series, which has been organised to celebrate 20 years of the race-bred GSX-R Superbike and to give Suzuki riders from across Europe an opportunity to taste champagne at one of the highest levels of World competition.

In 2004, Spain''s Javier Fores proved to be rider to watch at the GSX-R World Cup Final at Road Atlanta, USA. After wowing the crowds with some sensational riding, he has now been snapped up by Alstare Suzuki to ride the GSX-R600 World Supersport bike.

Suzuki GB will enter two riders and a third to be decided: Robert Barber (25) from Manchester and Magnus Houston (23) from Inverness make up the team who will battle for European Cup honours.

Barber contended for the GSX-R World Cup in 2004 while racing in the British Superstock Championship on his KAIS Performance GSX-R1000. But Houston enters the fray for the first time after a recommendation from his racing hero, Niall McKenzie. He also rides the latest GSX-R1000K5 in the British Superstock Championship.

A full race results service will be provided on line at www.suzuki-racing.co.uk along with all other race news.
