SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES
04 April 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association
BEN Wilson booked his place in the British Under-21 Final with a brilliant 15-point maximum at Mildenhall.
Sheffield youngster Wilson stamped his authority on a field which contained a mixture of Premier and Conference League riders to head the four qualifiers for the Final at Rye House. The other three qualifiers for the Final were Steve Boxall on 14, James Brundle on 12, and Somerset''s Jason King on 11. OXFORD boss Nigel Wagstaff is considering at least one more move to bolster his squad this week. The Silver Machine boss has already signed Jesper B Jensen to replace the injured Billy Hamill – and there could be more to follow. He said: “Our win at Arena Essex last week proves that we have plenty to race for and we have to stay competitive. I’m considering options.” WORKINGTON boss Graham Drury insists he is no cheat after struggling reserve Tony Dart pulled out of the Premier Trophy win at Newcastle. Drury refused to replace Dart in his final ride after he was accused of telling Dart to fake injury. He said: “I am no cheat, it’s as simple as that. I told Newcastle I would not replace Darty, even though he was genuinely hurt.” (FIXTURES) MONDAY APRIL 4: SKYBET ELITE LEAGUE: Belle Vue v Poole 7.45, Peterborough v Swindon 7.30 ELITE LEAGUE KNOCKOUT CUP: Wolverhampton v Ipswich 7.30 PREMIER TROPHY: Exeter v Isle of Wight 7.30, Reading v Newport 7.30 TUESDAY APRIL 5: PREMIER TROPHY: Isle of Wight v King’s Lynn 7.30 WEDNESDAY APRIL 6: SKYBET ELITE LEAGUE: Poole v Arena Essex 7.30 PREMIER TROPHY: Hull v Glasgow 7.30, King’s Lynn v Reading 7.30 THURSDAY APRIL 7: SKYBET ELITE LEAGUE: Oxford v Eastbourne 7.30, Swindon v Coventry 7.30 ELITE LEAGUE KNOCKOUT CUP: Ipswich v Wolverhampton 7.30 PREMIER TROPHY: Sheffield v Glasgow 7.45 CONFERENCE LEAGUE: Weymouth v Newport 7.30
