SHEFFIELD SPEEDWAY
31 March 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SHEFFIELD''S big guns Andre Compton and Sean Wilson guided them to a hard fought 50-40 win over Edinburgh at Owlerton in the Premier Trophy.
The Pirtek Tigers duo dropped just one-point between them... when Wilson missed out to ex-Tiger Ross Brady in his second outing. Edinburgh held a shock 37-35 lead after 12 races in a meeting which was delayed by 20-minutes to allow extra track work after torrential rain in the city. Compton and Wilson - who was handed a second chance after jumping at the start - put Tigers back in front with a 5-1 in Heat 13. Impressive Edinburgh reserve Robert Kseizak crashed heavily in the penultimate race and in the re-run Tigers duo Ricky Ashworth and Paul Cooper gained another big 5-1 which put the match beyond Edinburgh''s reach. Wilson and Compton combined again in Heat 15 with a superb display of team riding to give the scoreline a more emphatic appearance. TIGERS: Andre Compton 15, Sean Wilson 12+2, Ricky Ashworth 9+1, Paul Cooper 6, Richard Hall 3+2, Ben Wilson 3+1, Kyle Legault 2+1. EDINBURGH: Rusty Harrison 10, Ross Brady 9, Theo Pijper 7+1, Robert Ksiezak 6+2, Daniel Nermark 3+1, William Lawson 3, Cameron Woodward 2+1.
