ALEX’S DREAM IS HATCHED
01 April 2005 - E P Barrus Ltd
Alex Gault made an impressive debut on the British 125GP Championship stage last weekend finishing in 10th place overall at Brands Hatch.
Nicknamed ‘The Wizard’, 14-year-old Alex, one of the youngest riders in the race, had to compete against 55 entries for only 40 slots on the grid and with very little testing on the track this was a tall order against so many seasoned riders. Following an unscheduled gearbox change on the morning of the race, Alex took his place on row 7 and prepared himself to take on the best in the sport. Getting off to a good start, Alex worked his way through the pack avoiding the many incidents with 13 riders crashing out or experiencing engine problems. Alex Gault Snr, Alex’s manager commented after the race, “Our thanks go out to Malaguti Engines Engineering Team for allowing Alex to race such a fantastic bike, to Barrus and all our sponsors, and to the two young girls who made Alex’s day by asking him for his autograph!”. Alex’s achievement was a fantastic result for the BARRUS MALAGUTI team. With minimal track and preparation time, competing amongst well established teams and experienced riders, the BARRUS MALAGUTI team’s moral is boosted and looking forward to the next round of the Championship at Thruxton 8/9/10th April.
