YAMAHA’S REED WINS SECOND STRAIGHT
20 March 2005 - Clear Channel Entertainment

Yamaha’s Chad Reed, of Dade City, Fla., won his third THQ World Supercross GP/THQ AMA Supercross Series race victory of the season at the Citrus Bowl in front of 41,969 fans.

Suzuki’s Davi Millsaps, of Cairo, Ga., won his second career 125cc Eastern Regional THQ AMA Supercross Series race.

Honda’s Kyle Lewis, of Henderson, Nev., earned the $1,500 Butterfinger Crisp Holeshot Award. Lewis was quickly passed by Kawasaki’s James Stewart, of Haines City, Fla., with Suzuki’s Ricky Carmichael, of Havana, Fla., and Reed trailing. Carmichael crashed on lap 4, falling back to fifth place. On lap 8 Stewart crashed and fell into third place, giving the lead to Reed. Carmichael moved into second where he finished and Stewart finished third.

I rode a mistake-free race and that’s how you win,” said Reed. “It was a weird race because there were a lot of crashes, but it was fun.”

“I made some mistakes and my chips are down,” said Carmichael. “It’s frustrating but that’s racing. I can’t get in the habit of falling but it’s a long season.”

KTM’s Josh Hansen, of Elbert, Colo., won the $1,000 Butterfinger Crisp Holeshot Award with Kawasaki’s Grant Langston, of Murrieta, Calif., in tow. On Lap 1 Millsaps moved into second and on the next lap moved into the lead. Langston moved into second and challenged Millsaps but it wasn’t enough to make the pass.

“I was riding tight out there in the early part of the race but found my groove,” said Millsaps after the race. “I look forward to having the next weekend off and then getting ready for the next race.”

The NEXT race takes place Saturday, April 2, at Dallas’ Texas Stadium. Tonight’s race airs on ESPN2 Sunday, March 27 at Noon (EST) (125cc class) and at 3:00 p.m. (EST) (250cc class).
