CAPTAIN Marvel Sean Wilson made a stunning Owlerton comeback in Sheffield''s 55-36 Yorkshire Cup win over Hull.
Wilson, racing on his home track for the first time in almost a year after breaking his neck, dropped just one-point to his Hull counterpart Paul Thorp. It was a solid all-round team performance and the margin of victory would have been more but for below-par Owlerton scores from Andre Compton and Ricky Ashworth. Clever use of the tactical rule by visiting boss Dave Peet kept interest alive in the aggregate stakes although Tigers were already home and dry on the night. With just two races remaining Sheffield were 15-points up on the night - just one on aggregate - and the pressure was mounting as Hull came alive. But reserve Paul Cooper collected his second win of the night in Heat 14 and with Ashworth third there was a three-point gap going into the last race. Skipper Wilson went on to gain revenge over Thorp in Heat 15 to secure the silverware for the Owlerton outfit on a very pleasing night for both team and fans alike. TIGERS: Sean Wilson 14, Richard Hall 12+1, Ben Wilson 8+2, Ricky Ashworth 7+1, Andre Compton 6+1, Paul Cooper, 6, Kyle Legault 2. HULL: Jan Jaros 10, Paul Thorp 8, Emil Kramer 7, Emiliano Sanchez 4+1, Garry Stead 4, Lee Dicken 3+2, Craig Branney 0.
