SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES 29.3.05
29 March 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

NIGEL Wagstaff is hopeful Billy Hamill will ride for Oxford again this season.

The Silver Machine chief has been in touch with the 1996 world champion who has suffered back and rib injuries after a crash at Swindon. He said: ''We have to look at the options for our team, but above and beyond all that we must wish Billy well for a complete and speedy recovery. He sounds positive.''

IAN Thomas paid tribute to his Belle Vue side after seeing them pull off a stunning 50-40 win at Wolverhampton. The home side were 34-32 ahead with just four races to go and a Heat 13 maximum from Jason Crump and Joe Screen turned the match. Aces boss Thomas said: ''All the lads were brilliant, the spirit in the camp is superb and it was a fabulous result for us.''

PAUL Pickering has had surgery to repair the badly broken arm he suffered in Stoke''s Premier Trophy clash at Hull. His Potters colleague Jan Staechmann has also confirmed he is likely to be out for weeks after dislocating a shoulder. Boss Dave Tattum said: ''Paul''s operation was quite a rush and they wired the bones together. He''s in a lot of discomfort with an exterior fixture on his arm.''
