SCOTTISH BIKERS ARE THE MOST GENEROUS
29 March 2005 - BSR Aerotek
The Scots may have a reputation for being frugal with their money, but that’s certainly not the case when it comes to Scotland’s motorcyclists. Most people will be familiar with jokes about the meanness of Scotsmen when it comes to money.
“Copper wire was invented by two Scots fighting over a penny.” “A Scotsman never buys an address book. He scores out the people he doesn''t know in a telephone directory.” In reality, the Scottish man or woman gives more to registered charities per head of population compared to any other part of the United Kingdom. This was proved to BSR-Aerotek (from the very English Cotswolds) when the company exhibited at the 2005 Scottish Motorcycle Show. Instead of giving away their 32 page catalogues at the Scottish Show, Braided Steel-Aerotek, who sell Motoflex Brakelines & Aerotek Fasteners, asked potential customers to make a contribution should they wish to take one away. Over the two days of the Show, Scottish bikers dug deep and raised £150, which will be donated to Comic Relief. “We try to do something for charity at every Show we attend” explains BSR’s Wendy Grant. “Bikers are always very generous, but we were bowled over by the response we got in Scotland.” For those who didn’t make it to the show, a copy of the catalogue is available free of charge by calling BSR-Aerotek or e-mailing via the web site.
