BRITISH SUPERBIKE WILD CARD RIDE AWAITS WINNER AFTER FIVE RACES
17 March 2005 - MotorSport Vision

A new five round ''Champion of Oulton'' motorcycle series is to be sponsored for 2005 by J & S Accessories, the motorcycle clothing and accessories outlet based in Northwich, Cheshire.

Open to Unlimited Powerbikes over 600cc, the ''Champion of Oulton'' will be fought out over five stand alone races to be run within the five motorcycle club meetings at Oulton Park in 2005.

The Championship starts on Saturday April 2, which also features a round of the popular Bonhams Lansdowne Classic Series. The second round of the ''Champion of Oulton'' is a feature event when the Wirral 100 Motor Club makes a popular return to the Cheshire venue on Saturday April 16, Wirral 100 being the club that organised the first ever motorcycle meeting at Oulton Park in 1953.

The third round marks the return of another local club, with the Cheshire & Nantwich Motorcycle Road Racing Clubs organising a full programme of races and a Past Masters Parade on Saturday, June 25.

The New Era MCC''s Honda SuperClub Championships meeting on Saturday July 16 features the fourth round as well as a round of the spectacular ACU Star Formula Two Sidecar Championship.

The fifth and final round will form the highlight of the Derby Phoenix MCC Championship meeting on Saturday, September 3.

The overall winner of the ''Champion of Oulton'' series will be guaranteed a free MSV Wild Card entry in the 11th round of the televised Bennetts British Superbike Championship, which takes place at Oulton Park one week later, on September 10/11.

MotorSport Vision Chief Executive Jonathan Palmer said: “The club motorcycle events at Oulton Park are among the best supported in the country, both with regards to competitor and spectator support. This new championship will further enhance the popularity of the Cheshire venue and the strong following it has in the North West from the club motorcycle fraternity.”

Points will be awarded on a 15-12-10-8-6-4 basis to the top six finishers in each round, with the winner of each round receiving £200 and a J & S Accessories Trophy. Prize money of £180, £160, £130, £100 and £80 will be awarded to the second to sixth placed finishers in each round. Riders will be eligible to use slick or treaded tyres.

Peter Cook, proprietor of J & S Accessories, said that sponsoring the new ''Champion of Oulton'' series gave his company ''a great opportunity to work alongside MotorSport Vision, which is doing so much to improve my local circuit and I wish all the riders a great year ahead in competing on one of the best motorcycle road race circuits in the UK.''
