SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES
17 March 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

STOKE are sweating on the fitness of skipper Paul Pickering who crashed out of the 53-42 Premier Trophy defeat at Hull.

Pickering was taken to hospital with arm injuries after a fall in Heat 11 when he got into trouble on the second turn. Potters promoter Dave Tattum said: “We will await a directive from the hospital regarding Paul’s condition and obviously we are keeping our fingers crossed.”

WEYMOUTH boss Brian White is backing his side for silverware in the Conference League this season. The Dorset club have completed their side with the signing of Tom Brown, one of the league’s top riders. White said: “We''ve had a good winter. The team building has gone just the way I hoped and we''re as ready as we''ll ever be for the start of the new season.”

EDINBURGH have been handed a big boost with the news that Theo Pijper will ride in their Spring Trophy clash with Glasgow at Armadale on Friday. Pijper has had treatment in Holland for a wrist injury this week and has been given the green light after suffering the damage in the first leg last weekend. He will be wearing a brace stretching from the top of his arm to his fingers.
