WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY
17 March 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

WOLVERHAMPTON launch an exciting new season at Oxford tonight - and club boss Chris Van Straaten admits they could hardly have wished for a tougher start.

The Monmore men travel to Cowley in the first leg of the Airtek Challenge with the return in the Black Country next Monday, March 21. Van Straaten said: ''Oxford have built a very exciting team and in Greg Hancock andn Billy Hamill they have a formidable partnership to lead them. ''But we''re also looking forward to seeing how our new-look team performs. We''ll be looking for a good display down at Oxford to bring them back to our place for the second leg.'' Wolves hand debuts to new skipper Steve Johnston - signed from Swindon - and unknown Pole Kzrystof Pecyna, who has never raced in a British meeting.
OXFORD: Greg Hancock, Travis McGowan, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Lukas Dryml, Billy Hamill, Tom P Madsen, Kjastas Poudzhuks.
WOLVERHAMPTON: Mikael Max, Ronnie Correy, Fredrik Lindgren, Steve Johnston, David Howe, Magnus Karlsson, Krzystof Pecyna.
