CARMICHAEL RACES FOR EIGHT IN ORLANDO
14 March 2005 - Clear Channel Entertainment

THQ World Supercross GP/THQ AMA Supercross Series returns to Orlando’s Citrus Bowl this Saturday after an eight year hiatus. Three-time 250cc THQ World Supercross GP/THQ AMA Supercross Series champion and local favorite Ricky Carmichael, of Havana, Fla., races for his eighth win of the season.

In Daytona last weekend Carmichael finished second to reigning THQ AMA Supercross Series champion Chad Reed, of Dade City, Fla. Reed’s win was his second on the season, marking his 20th career win.

''My Makita Suzuki RM250 was running fine, but I just didn''t get it done,” said Carmichael after Daytona. “Overall it was a fun race and I''m glad that I''m one of the guys going for the win. I just love racing and I love this event. That''s why I''m going to keep coming back.''

Carmichael has a 32-point lead over Reed in THQ AMA Supercross Series points with six races to go. This weekend he’s excited to be racing in his home state once again.

''I''m happy with what I''ve accomplished so far and I know I''ve got some more in me,'' he said. ''I''m really happy to be racing here in Florida because I''m from here and I feel that I''m more in my element when I''m racing here. I have a lot of friends and family who''ll be coming out next week in Orlando and that just makes the whole thing kind of special.''

In the 125cc Eastern Regional THQ AMA Supercross Series competition, KTM’s Josh Hansen moved into the season points leader with his first win of the season. Hansen leads Kawasaki’s Grant Langston by two points heading into Orlando.
