DEAN Barker wants a wildcard entry into the British Grand Prix at Cradiff in June.
The Eastbourne rider struggled on loan at Arena Essex last season but now believes he is ready to rejuvenate his career. He said: “My Eastbourne team-mate David Norris had a totally new attitude to the sport last year and I want to emulate what he’s done. I need to be more serious and professional.” BILLY Hamill is backing his new club Oxford to reach the Elite League play-offs. The 1996 world champion joins fellow Californian Greg Hancock at the top end of the Silver Machine team and makes his debut against Wolverhampton on Thursday. He said: “We have an exciting team and we must be strongly fancied to finish in the top four when anything can happen. I would love a league championship.” (FIXTURES) MONDAY MARCH 14: AIRTEK CHALLENGE: Belle Vue v Coventry 7.45 WEDNESDAY MARCH 16: AIRTEK CHALLENGE: Arena-Essex v Eastbourne 7.45, Poole v Swindon 7.30 PREMIER TROPHY: Hull v Stoke 7.30 CHALLENGE: King''s Lynn v Rye House 7.45 THURSDAY MARCH 17: ELITE LEAGUE: Ipswich v Belle Vue 7.30 AIRTEK CHALLENGE: Oxford v Wolverhampton 7.45, Swindon v Poole 7.30 CHALLENGE: Sheffield v Hull 7.45
