GSE RACING HEAD TO SPAIN TO FINALISE PREPARATIONS FOR BRITISH SUPERBIKES 2005
11 March 2005 - GSE Racing

The familiar surroundings of the Valencian and Albacete race circuits will this week become GSE Racing’s temporary home as they put the finishing touches on their plans before the start of the 2005 British Superbike Championship.

Riders James Haydon and Leon Haslam and the rest of the team will put their Ducati 999F04s through final tests before returning for the BSB season opener at Brands Hatch on 28th March.

The south-east cost of Spain will host the team for the week as they spend 2 days on track at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia on Monday and Tuesday before moving to Albacete for 2 more days on Thursday and Friday. Both riders are now veterans of the circuits and will expect to get through many laps on their Ducati 999F04s, especially with favourable weather forecast.

Team Manager Colin Wright stressed the importance of the week: “We are aiming for a successful and uninterrupted week of testing which will set us up perfectly for the start of the season. With the first race at Brands two weeks away, the anticipation and expectation of the whole team has grown and our aims and objectives are clear. I am very excited by the onset of the season and am looking forward to a good week in Spain”.

Wright was also quick to explain the absence of the team at the official BSB tests at Donington Park and Brands on the 13th and 15th March and the official BSB press launch on 16th March.

”It is very unfortunate that we are missing the BSB official tests and press launch and, of course, we would have loved to have been at both”, said Wright. “However, due to our lack of track time at our previous test, it just wasn’t feasible and we made the decision to spend the week in Spain so we can ensure we are in perfect shape for the season curtain-raiser. We are pleased that team principle Darrell Healey will represent the team at the official BSB press launch.”

Team Principle Darrell Healey also commented: “For one reason or another, the team have spent a comparatively short time on track since our comeback in Valencia in November and it will be good to return to Spain. With a good week of testing under our belts, we will arrive at the first race of the season fully competitive and we look forward to unveiling the team to our fans and supporters at the first race”.

Following the busy week of testing in Spain, the team will return to the UK for an official team launch in London on 22nd March before the season kicks off at Brands Hatch on 28th March.
