SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES 11.3.05
11 March 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association
GREG Hancock has broken his silence on the row between his parent club Coventry and Oxford over his move to Cowley.
Hancock and fellow Californian Billy Hamill faced the press at Oxford''s pre-season launch on Thursday. He said: ''It''s been a long and drawn out situation and I feel it has taken away the excitement of the build-up to a new season for both Coventry and Oxford.'' POOLE legend Tony Rickardsson has confirmed his attendance back at Wimborne Road for Magnus Zetterstrom’s testimonial on March 30. The five-times world champion quit British racing for personal reasons last year but he has now agreed to support his fellow countryman. Zetterstrom said: “It’s really great news that Tony is coming and he says he is really excited about racing in front of the Poole fans once again.” IPSWICH skipper Chris Louis took some positive points from the Witches’ 46-44 home defeat by rivals Peterborough in the Air-Tek Challenge. Louis top scored for the home side with 12 and said: “I’m disappointed naturally to lose yet overall pleased with the performance. “Our lack of practice showed and a lot of the teething problems that happened tonight would almost certainly been sorted out at a practice session.” (FIXTURES) FRIDAY MARCH 11 AIR TEK TROPHY: Peterborough v Ipswich 7.30 CL INTERNATIONAL: Scotland v England (at Edinburgh) 7.30 SATURDAY MARCH 12: PREMIER TROPHY: Rye House v Somerset 7pm, Workington v Glasgow 7pm CHALLENGE: Berwick v Hull 7pm, Stoke v Newcastle 7.30 SUNDAY MARCH 13: CHALLENGE: Glasgow v Edinburgh 3pm, Newcastle v Stoke 6.45, Newport v Somerset 1pm
