ROYAL ENFIELD BULLET MOTORCYCLES FROM £1995
24 March 2005 - Watsonian-Squire
British bikers can now buy a brand new classic British motorcycle for under £2,000, thanks to a radical pricing re-structure by Royal Enfield, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Bullet Classic model.
The price of the 350cc Bullet Classic, which is relatively unchanged from the 1955 design, has been reduced to £1,995, while it’s 500cc sibling will sell for £2,499. Both machines benefit from 12-volt electric systems, which greatly improve lighting compared with the original and indicators, both of which are vital for modern traffic conditions. In almost all other respects, these could be British motorcycles of the 1950’s. In recent years Royal Enfield has introduced new variations of the Bullet, such as the Bullet Sixty-5, which is fitted with electric start and modern 5-speed gear boxes, designed to make the bikes more acceptable to a younger generation of riders, accustomed to Japanese machines which feature such items as standard. The introduction of the lean burn Electra-X at the end of 2004, equipped with a brand new 500cc engine designed by AVL of Austria has resulted in sales of the modern Bullets exceed those of the classic models by approximately 2:1.
