50CC FUN FOR 50 YEARS
23 March 2005 - Yamaha Scooter

As the Yamaha Motor Company celebrates its 50th Birthday, we take a look at Yamaha’s 50cc scooter range.

2005 marks the 50th year in Yamaha’s ‘History of Excellence’ in the production of motorcycles and scooters and brings with it a greater understanding of the customers’ needs. Yamaha’s customers demand reliability, practicality, high-build quality and ease of riding, which have all become basic requisites of this famous marque.

The broad range of Yamaha’s 50cc scooters offers something for everyone, mixing fun with practicality and ensuring an enduring but stylish personal transport solution.

With the emphasis more on fun, consider the BW’s (pronounced Bee-wizz), the machine that began Yamaha’s mighty reign in the manufacture of scooters, which has been updated to make it even better – a modern classic with true street cred.

The easy riding style and sharp styling has made the BW’s a firm favourite with youngsters throughout Europe. Since the first version was launched in 1990 the BW’s has sold in its thousands and the new 2005 model will ensure it continues to be the choice of cool, happening guys & gals everywhere.

New colours and graphics add even more style to this very individual scooter. A large range of accessories, in an easy clip-on design, allows the rider to personalise his or her scooter to reflect their individual style and taste. Accessories include sportscreen; special screen mounting spider; hand guards; sliders & handlebar ends; luggage net, seat cover, tail lamp cover; sticker kit and much more. Choose from Burning Blue, Mistral Grey or new for 2005 Alu Metal, at a cost of £1,999 on the road.

Maybe you prefer a scooter that exudes classic style and sophistication? Then you need the Yamaha Neo’s, the 50cc scooter which is chic and elegant. If fashion and style are high on your priority list then the Neo’s must be your first choice. Customise with a tall windshield and 30 litre topcase for increased weather protection and commuter luggage capacity. For extra style finish off with chromed side stand, chromed side and rear guards, front fender trimrail and tail light protector. Available in Tech Grey and three new colours for this year, Deep Pacific Blue, Midnight Black and Tundra, at £1,899 on the road.

The Aerox R has authentic supersport style and its high spec, liquid-cooled engine, means it is built for performance. Sharp and agile handling with excellent stopping force from front and rear disc brakes, with light alloy five-spoke 13 inch wheels. The Aerox R has stunning looks, a straight-from-the-track appearance, including an aviation-style filler cap. This scooter is sporty but practical too, with dual seat and under seat helmet bay. Priced at £2,199 on the road, the Aerox R comes in the original Yamaha Blue or two new colours for 2005, Alu Metal/Vivid Red or Midnight Black. A full range of accessories is available for this model.

Keeping to the sports theme, the Yamaha Jog R and RR have a perfect blend of performance and urban style. Its lightweight and agile handling mean it can be used as a sporty ride or an easy, commuter scoot. The style is irresistible, from the high tech front light cluster to the spoiler-shaped grabrail. Choose from air cooled (Jog R) or liquid-cooled (Jog RR) models, each with a special range of accessories, including aluminium or carbon-look speedometer surround, smoked or fluorescent sportscreens and carbon-look front fender. The Jog R comes in Fancy Plum and new for 2005 Silver Tech, at £1,799 on the road. The Jog RR is priced at £1,899 and is available in the standard Yamaha Blue, or 2005 Midnight Black.

Now is a great time to buy a new Yamaha scooter, up to 125cc, with FREE Third Party Fire and Theft Insurance* until 30th June 2005. Highly competitive upgrades are also available should you prefer Fully Comprehensive insurance.
