AIM RACING LAUNCHES 2005 CAMPAIGN
17 February 2005 - Aim Racing
Alistair Flanagan (AIM Team Owner) launched his 2005 British Superbike championship with a firm handshake from Yamaha UK motorsport.
The deal confirms that AIM Racing will contest the 2005 British Superbike championship on the latest factory backed Yamaha machinery. The deal has also given AIM Racing the status of the official Yamaha factory backed 2005 Road Racing team. When Alistair was asked about the coming year he stated “The team and I are delighted about this opportunity. 2004 was not a good year for us and I believe we have now turned a corner. The guys are all fired up and getting ready to start the season with such excitement it’s hard to keep all our feet on the ground.” “The deal with Yamaha came about after talks with myself, Yamaha, and AIM Racings team manager Jim Moodie. Yamaha are 50 years old this year and after the success with John in the TT last year, we started discussions with Yamaha regarding their machinery. The discussions continued and the deal was agreed that AIM Racing would take up the title of official road racing team for Yamaha. We were also delighted to be given factory backing for the British Superbike championship.” AIM Racing has a two man line up for the 2005 season. John McGuinness will front the team by contesting the 2005 British Superbike championship and also the road racing events. The second rider is a talented young rider who has already stamped his mark on the Superstock series ‘Les Shand’. With Jim Moodie managing this operation we at AIM Racing are sure 2005 will be a challenging but yet a very exciting year for the team.
