WORLD champion Jason Crump romped to victory in the Peter Craven Memorial Trophy at Belle Vue.
A bumper crowd turned out for the first meeting under new management at the Manchester track - and they were rewarded with an Aces top three. Crump scored a 15-point maximum, Jason Lyons finished runner-up on 14 and Joe Screen was third with 11, level on points with Oxford''s Niels Kristian Iversen. SOMERSET boss Mick Bell is warning his side to expect a baptism of fire this weekend. The Rebels go to Rye House in a Premier Trophy clash on Saturday and then travel to Newport the following day. Bell said: ''Thankfully we have our practice session on Friday so we will not be totally rusty, but we could hardly have picked two tougher meetings to start the season.'' GLASGOW co-promoter Stewart Dickson is keen to see his side strike an early psychological blow against deadly rivals Edinburgh this weekend. The Tigers face a new-look Monarchs side in a Spring Trophy clash at Ashfield - Glasgow''s first home meeting of the season. Dickson said: ''It''s important for us to gain the upper hand in the derby matches, starting this Sunday in what should be a superb afternoon of racing.''
