SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES 1.3.05
01 March 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

EASTBOURNE have appointed Trevor Geer as joint team manager of the Eagles, working alongside co-promoter Jon Cook.

Cook explained: ''There are aspects of being a promoter which can lead to little problems if I am tied to the pits. ''Trevor and I work well together and I am delighted that he has accepted the offer to become involved. It is going to make us even stronger in that area.''

BERWICK''S Polish star Adam Pietraszko will miss the first fortnight of the reason after being rushed to hospital with appendicitis. Promoter Peter Waite said: ''Adam has been released and is back home but has been told in no uncertain terms that he won''t be riding until March 19. ''I can''t remember any season''s build-up like the one we''ve suffered this year but we will battle on whilst he''s out.''

PETERBOROUGH manager Trevor Swales says the club''s first target this season should be a 100% home record. The Panthers lost an unusually high number of matches at the Showground last year, leading to a ninth-place finish in the Elite League. Swales said: ''The biggest aim is not to lose a match at the Showground. I want to make it Fortress Alwalton and we have to hit the ground running.''
