SPECTACULAR FIRST WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP VICTORY FOR ALBERT CABESTANY AND SHERCO
28 February 2005 - Sherco

Albert Cabestany has finally been able to break the string of victories that have been achieved by Adam Raga, the reigning Indoor World Champion.

The win came in a very spectacular and exciting way at the eight round of the World Indoor Trials Championship which was held last night in the Atlantic Building in Lisbon Portugal. Nearly 7,000 spectators were present in the Portuguese capital to watch the best trials riders in the world compete. Albert rode an impeccable first lap; he did not accumulate a single point, continuing to show the progress that has been achieved in the last few weeks by the Sherco-Cabestany team. The other two riders to advance to the final were Adam Raga and Doug Lampkin, in this order. The final was again a heart stopper at the end of which found both Raga and Cabestany tied with seven points each, Lampkin had eight points. This was a trial in which each point was worth its weight in gold. Finally, just exactly as in Milan the week before, one section was used to decide the victory. This time the victory went in favor of Cabestany as both riders cleaned the section but Albert defeated Raga by having the best time. The margin of victory was a mere two hundredths of a second. This victory confirms the excellent state of form that has been achieved by the rider from Tarragona, and how he continues to develop his rapport with his Sherco.

Albert Cabestany: ''At last! We had come close to victory in previous rounds, but finally we have victory here in Lisbon. My level of riding and rapport with the motorcycle has gotten better each week. We have been hoping for a little luck to come our way and it finally did. In spite of the fact that the trial might have seemed to be easy by the few points that Raga and I received this was not so, the sections were very difficult. I want to dedicate this triumph to Paxau for the enormous amount of work he has been doing on the motorcycle to meet my requirements and to all of the team that works with me from week to week. Many thanks to all.''
