SPEEDWAY NEWS 24.2.05
24 February 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

POOLE team manager Neil Middleditch will go into the new Elite League season confident that the Pirates can record a hat-trick of title wins.

The last club to win three Championships in succession was Belle Vue in the early 1970s. Middleditch said: ''Poole do not go into any League campaign not expecting to win it. I''m sure we have a squad capable of winning the League.''

HULL skipper Paul Thorp believes the club''s pre-season practice sessions at Scunthorpe should help the Vikings to make a strong start to the campaign. Hull will be defending three titles at Premier League level this season, including the Championship itself. Thorp said: ''We want to hit the ground running, and hopefully we''ll get the chance to have another run-out before press and practice.''
