CABESTANY FINISHED SECOND BY VIRTUE OF A ''PHOTO FINISH'' AFTER CONQUERING THE INDOOR OF PAU (FRANCE) ON SATURDAY NIGHT.
22 February 2005 - Sherco
The finish of the seventh round of the World Indoor Championship was not one for the faint of heart. Despite the fact that he did not win the overall victory, the final results indicate that the team of Albert Cabestany and Sherco are continuing to show an excellent progression in the pursuit of the World Indoor Trials Championship.
The qualifying round did not begin well for Albert who arrived in excellent spirits after having won the victory the night before at the indoor event in Pau France. Albert suffered a puncture in the first section and had to utilize his back up machine for the next three sections. His results were not good in these sections; however he was able to utilize his original machine for the remaining sections and was able to recover enough to qualify for the final. In the final Cabestany had a great ride, his score was the exactly the same as the present world champion at the end of the round. In the section that was used to determine the winner both riders ended up with fives. A new section was used to again attempt to determine the overall winner, both riders cleaned the section, the winner was finally determined by the one who rode through this section the fastest. The final victory went to Raga. Albert Cabestany: ''The taste is bittersweet, but the feeling is very positive, this ride verified that our level of competition is continuing to increase higher and higher. The stopwatch had to be used to determine the final result. It really hurts because this could have rounded out a fantastic weekend after having earned the victory at Pau last night.''
