17 February 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

SWINDON have verbally agreed terms with a mystery new signing - but they are refusing to reveal his name.

The Robins have been forced into a change of plan after Peter Ljung''s decision to turn his back on a new deal. Boss Alun Rossiter said: ''Everything is agreed but after what happened with Ljung I won''t say anything more until the paperwork is safely in my hands.''

SCUNTHORPE have signed David Speight as a middle order rider for their debut Conference League season. The sport returns to the town for the first time in 20 years next month with Speight moving from Sheffield Prowlers. Scorpions chairman Norman Beeney said: ''David is a lovely lad and he has always helped us over the years, we are repaying that now and I''m sure David will deliver the goods this season.''
