SPEEDWAY NEWS - 16.2.05
16 February 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

THE four seeded riders for the British Under-21 Final at Rye House will be Daniel King, Edward Kennett, James Wright and Richard Hall.

They will be definite starters at Hoddesdon on April 30 whilst 48 other hopefuls compete in the qualifying rounds for the remaining 12 places. The three qualifying rounds take place at Weymouth (March 28), Mildenhall (April 3) and Scunthorpe (April 10).

EXETER have been hit by a pre-season blow with the news that new signing Jernej Kolenko will miss the start of the campaign with a hand injury. The Slovenian has aggravated an old injury and is unlikely to ride before the end of April. Director of operations Mike Spearpoint said: ''I am currently arranging a short term replacement but we really wanted to start with our full team.''

NEWPORT have announced that Tony Atkin is taking over from Craig Watson as captain of the Wasps. Promoter Tim Stone made the change after consultation with the two riders and team manager Neil Street. Atkin said: ''I''m not the sort of person who will just flip the coin - I will get involved as well, and I think the most important thing is having a good team spirit.''

MILDENHALL have agreed terms with talented 16-year-old Adam Roynon to return to West Row for the forthcoming Conference League campaign. Roynon became a Coventry asset during the winter and had been linked with a move to Scunthorpe, but goes back to Mildenhall on a 6-point grade. Manager Wayne Swales said: ''Adam is one of the hottest properties in British speedway and I’m delighted he is coming back to Mildenhall.''
