MZ 1000SF SUPER FIGHTER – A POWERFUL HIGH-TECH BIKE WITH AGGRESSIVE DESIGN
23 February 2005 - MZ Motorrad- und Zweiradwerk GmbH
MZ Motorrad- und Zweiradwerk GmbH presents its latest product: the new MZ 1000 SF Super Fighter.
The Super Fighter is the naked derivate of the racing proven and award winning sports bike MZ 1000 S and is targeted to the market segment of the Streetfighters: Naked sports bikes. The 2-cylinder, 4-stroke engine R2 of the Super Fighter with 113 hp (83kW), 98 Nm and real power from the bottom line has been developed by MZ. The engine is based on the well proven 117 PS (86kW) engine of the MZ 1000 S. The whole software has been modified for the use in the Super Fighter and the injection map has been adjusted. Also the exhaust system is laid out for torque. A shorter secondary transmission gives additional support to the engine characteristics of the Super Fighter. The engine is covered under a special fairing made of anodised aluminium that only weighs 510g. The MZ engineers also have made significant changes to the chassis: The seat height was reduced by 15 mm and so also the balance point was brought down. This results in an even better handling. The conic aluminium tube handlebar allows perfect control over the bike as well as a comfortable seat position. The handlebar holder has been constructed starchily and is supported vibration dumping. To enable an optimum adjustment for every rider, the new brake and clutch fittings are individually adjustable. The Saxons have developed a special innovation: A new wind protection system called J.A.P. (Jet Air Protect). The front fairing was developed in a wind tunnel and allows with its spoiler edge and airing behind the same wind protection as a screen of the double size. In cooperation with Colour Industries Chemnitz, MZ has developed a special, matt lacquer with nano-technology on ceramics basis exclusively for the MZ 1000 SF, which is more scratch-resistant than other lacquer systems and that guarantees a durably matt finish. Besides two standard colours (orange and black) several special colours and lacquerings are available. Even before the MZ 1000 SF Super Fighter is launched into the market it has won the internationally renowned iF Product Design Award 2005.
