NEW PILOT ROAD FOR TRAIL BIKES
15 February 2005 - Michelin Tyre plc

Michelin has launched two new sizes of its Pilot Road sports-touring tyre for fitment to big trail bikes.

The two new sizes – 110/80 R 19 59V front and 150/70 R 17 69V rear – are designed for fitment to bikes including the Honda Varadero, Triumph Tiger, Suzuki V-Strom and BMW R1100, 1150GS and 1200GS models.

These new tyres give riders of this type of machine the option of replacing their trail tyres with something more suited to long distance touring and fast road use.

The construction of this tyre differs from the standard Pilot Road by having a casing derived from the Michelin Anakee radial trail tyre. This ensures optimal rigidity, and offers good grip, precise handling and exceptional high-speed stability.

The tyre features specific front and rear tread patterns, with variable depth grooves at the front to improve water clearance, and alternate open and closed grooves at the rear to offer a good balance between rigidity and water clearance.

Motorcyclists who only need to replace one tyre but want to change to this type of ‘more road orientated’ fitment, can fit the new Michelin Pilot Road with a Michelin Anakee on the front or rear.
