SPEEDWAY NEWS 9.2.05
09 February 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

SWINDON have been rocked by the news that Swedish international Peter Ljung has rejected a new contract.

Robins boss Alun Rossiter insists financial terms had been agreed but Ljung wants to stay in his home country. He said: ''We did everything right from our end but Peter has lost a major sponsor and has decided to stay at home. It''s bad timing for us without a doubt.''

CRAIG Watson has agreed a new deal to stay with Newport for a fourth successive season. The Australian becomes the fifth Wasps signing and talks are planned this weekend with Danish rider Kristian Lund. Newport promoter Tim Stone said: ''Craig is a top rider in the Premier League and is probably at the top of his game at the moment. We are naturally delighted to have him back.''
