MANY of the famous names that made Ipswich so great during the John Berry era are going back to town.
Berry, who was promoter from 1969 until 1984, is organising a club reunion for Friday March 25 following an Ipswich home meeting, at Kesgrave Community Centre. Berry said: “It will give supporters and former riders alike a chance to go to the speedway in the afternoon and then along to the reunion.'' ARENA Essex have been handed a big pre-season boost with a new club sponsorship deal. The Purfleet outfit will be backed by Husqvarna Motorcycles throughout the Skybet Elite League season. Club promoter Ronnie Russell said: ''I am delighted that Husqvarna have agreed to sponsor the team this coming season and I would like to thank Husky Sports for their valuable assistance. Sponsorship is very important in any sport.'' FORMER Somerset favourite Stephan Katt is the latest rider to be added to the line-up for next week’s Telford ice meetings. The German will ride in both meetings on Sunday February 13 and he is sure to enjoy the support of Rebels fans. He said: “You need to be lucky to win on the ice but I am looking forward very much to racing at Telford for the first time.”
