SPEEDWAY NEWS 4.2.05
04 February 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

WEYMOUTH have been forced to change their team plans as a result of the new Conference League regulations.

Recent signing Gary Phelps has been released as teams are now unable to track two top-graded riders, and the Wildcats already have skipper David Mason in that category. Manager Brian White said: ''It''s a great shame because Gary is a terrific rider and would have been great for the team.''

NEWCASTLE will stage a team bonding weekend at an activity centre in the Lake District shortly before the new season. The Diamonds staged a similar event in their Championship winning season of 2001 and feel it will be a useful exercise with a much-changed team. Co-promoter Darryl Illingworth said: ''Many of the riders won''t have ridden much together, and the team-work events will really bond the side together.''
